History

The S.L. Mossman Company, Inc., later Mossman Guitars, was a small acoustic guitar manufacturing firm, located in Winfield, Kansas from 1966 to 1984. During that time period, the company underwent a number of organizational changes, from a one-man garage shop, to a corporation employing approximately forty people, back to a small, family-run business with one outside employee. During the course of those years the company experienced fire, flood, lawsuit and near bankruptcy. The Winfield shop was closed in 1984, its inventory and trademark name Mossman Guitars sold to a Texas buyer in 1986.
